After early beginning in a tin tabernacle in Grove Road, Burgess Hill, the present church was built on land given by Mr. W. Doubleday. The foundation stone still clearly shows the date it was laid, October 19, 1881. Since those days other memorials to benefactors have been added to the inside, marking generous gifts of time and service to God. The most recent being a complete refurbishment of the church interior, including new stained glass windows.
During World War Two Saturday night concerts held in the hall were a great success with troops stationed in the town. Refugees from London also found a welcome at a daytime reception centre on the premises. Today our premises are home to many community groups, including musicians, singers, dancers and young people.
We continue to work with other churches in the town to spread the good news of God's love for all.
